Picture1During the school year 2012/2013 Portlaoise College made huge strides in the Volleyball arena. With a little luck Portlaoise College could have been celebrating 4 All-Ireland titles this past year but unfortunately fell at the penultimate step three times and the final step on another. The Cadette girls were undeniably the team of the year. They defeated Roscommon, Dungarvan, Loughrea, Elphin and Athenry on route to the semi-final against Ennis.

The Spikeball season kicked of next and after tournaments at home, in Mountrath and Athlone, the first year boys team qualified for the All-Ireland finals in UCD. This proved a step too far for the boys and Mallow eventually won the final. With a little luck next year an All Ireland will be in our grasp.

The school also competed in hurling, Gaelic football, soccer, basketball and athletics.

First and Second years also enjoyed a fun filled Sports Day competing against each other, with the 2 Ash class winning out on the day. Well done to all involved.
