What is this programme about?

The introduction of the higher capitation for Early Childhood services that operate the free pre-school year has resulted in an increased demand for qualified staff to meet the requirements. In order to obtain higher capitation from the Department of Children & Youth Affairs a service must be able to show that all the required Pre-school Leaders in the service hold a major award at Level 7 on the NFQ or equivalent in childhood / early education and have at least 3 years’ experience in the childcare sector. Ongoing professional development must be at the heart of any organisation or sector, but especially in the Early Year’s sector. This level 7 award will incentivise the sector to continue to up skill and in doing so provide real change for the sector and for children. Candidates with a full Level 6 award in Supervisory Childcare and a minimum of 3 years full-time practice experience are eligible to apply.

 Entry requirements To be eligible for consideration for this BA in Applied Early Childhood Education & Care, applicants must hold a minimum full FETAC Level 6 qualification in childcare and have at least 3 years full-time practice experience. All applicants will be considered on a case by case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for an interview to determine their suitability for the programme.
