Within this programme, Business Studies with Office Administration Skills, there are a number of combinations of programme modules that will afford the learner the opportunity to achieve certification in the major award.

Course Objectives

If you would like to work in the field of Education and Training this one year course will allow you to develop your knowledge, skills and professional approach necessary for a career in Education and Training. This course is ideal for those wishing to gain the skills required to successfully complete their studies on route to becoming a Teacher, Trainer or Educational Practitioner.

Work Experience

Students must obtain 10 days’ work experience in a vocational related area. Garda Clearance is required for work experience.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed their Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent. Mature students (over 23) may be exempt from standard entry requirements. In addition applicants will have to be interviewed before been offered a place on a course.

Award

  • General Certificate in Education Practice – QQI Level 5
  • Certificate in Occupational First Aid (at an additional cost)
  • Certificate in Manual Handling (at an additional cost)

Student Grants

Eligible Students may apply for a Further Higher Education Grant or in some cases Back to School Allowance

Enrolment

Students may apply on-line from the 1st January 2015.
Facilities will be available in Portlaoise  College Institute of Further Education for students to apply on-line on Wednesday 28 January 2015 between 5pm and 8.00pm (Open Evening)
