This is a one year full-time programme that enables students to develop their observational skills, to explore creativity and personal expression through a broad range of creative digital processes including drawing, animation drawing, computer illustrated graphics, digital photography, graphic design and photoshop.

Progression

Successful QQI Level 5 Award Holders may apply for places in Third Level Colleges e.g. Limerick Institute of Technology, LIT Clonmel, Dublin Institute of Technology, Cork Institute of Technology , Athlone Institute of Technology, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology and many other institutes to further their education.

Work experience

Students must obtain 10 days’ work experience in a vocational related area. Garda Clearance maybe required for work experience.

Entry requirements

Students should be of Leaving Certificate standard or Applied Leaving Certificate with distinction. Portlaoise Institute of Further Education welcomes applications from mature students. Mature students are assessed on their merits and may not require the above qualifications. Students must have a strong interest in a field of digital creative media.

Awards

Certificate in Creative Media (5M5048 – QQI Level 5)

Student Grants

Eligible Students may apply for a Further Higher Education Grant or in some cases Back to School Allowance.

Enrolment

Students may apply on-line from the 23rd January 2017. Facilities will be available in Portlaoise College Institute of Further Education for students to apply on-line on Thursday 9 March 2017 between 5pm and 7.00pm (Open Evening)
