My time on Health and Fitness and Sports Coaching by Jeff Phelan (Former Student)
abseil[1]

The course was a great starting point for me and gave me great opportunities to develop myself academically or for employment.  Where will I start, I couldn’t speak highly enough of the course, it exceeded my expectations; I loved every minutes of it.  The atmosphere with the students and the tutor/student relationship was second to none.

I loved the practical coaching and exercise and fitness side of the course but equally enjoyed the more theory side of it too, the anatomy physiology and nutrition really was a big shock to me that I like them so much and I worked hard at both the practical and theory based subjects and got the rewards for it.

This course prepared me for a career please God in Physical Education teaching because it gave me a sound base of core exercise and fitness and how exercise can have an effect on people’s wellbeing.  This along with the encouragement I got from the course co-ordinator Sandra Molloy to work with Ollie Hally on PE experience was vital for my acceptance into University of Limerick this year.

I will always remember with fond memories my times in Portlaoise College and I hope I will be back some day to do my Physical Education work placement to show the skills I first learning on Health & Fitness and Sports coaching.

Many thanks to all the staff that made my journey there a happy one,

Jeff Phelan
