This course is specifically designed for people who wish to work in a supervisory capacity in a childcare environment or who wish to obtain an advanced knowledge of childcare studies.
Duration of Course
This is a one year full-time course – consisting of 3 days per week spent in College and two days per week working in a registered childcare setting. The work experience days will be specified by the College.

Garda Clearance is required for work experience.
All students must have completed a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Early Childcare Care and Education or its equivalent and interview.
Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education (6M2007) QQI Level 6
Eligible students may apply for a Further Higher Education Grant or Back to Education Allowance.
Positions in supervisory management or self-employed in Childcare. Successful QQI Level 6 award holders may apply through the Higher Link Scheme for places in Third Level Colleges in Ireland.
Students may apply on-line from the 23rd January 2017. Facilities will be available in Portlaoise College Institute of Further Education for students to apply on-line on Thursday 9 March 2017 between 5pm and 7.00pm (Open Evening)
