Transition Year students and Scoil Bhride 3rd classes walked around Portlaoise with their “Maths Eyes” on; they took photographs to show that maths is everywhere not just in the classroom. Look at some of their photos and think of any maths involved…
Join us in Treo Nua on Friday March 20th for a Maths Eyes event where we will have these on display. Maths Eyes Presentation

Food waste is a costly problem that leaves a bad taste in both your mouth and in your wallet! Unlike many problems in life, this one has a tasty solution – eating the food that we buy!
Portlaoise College and Laois County Council ran a 4 week programme to “Stop Food Waste”: 10 parents/guardians committed to one hour a week for four weeks with Sinéad Boland and Annmarie Kelly in our parents’ room; we received tips on how to prevent food waste and then reduce food waste by proper planning and purchasing etc.
The Programme was on Monday the 9th, 16th and 23rd of March 2015 and the last one was on 13th April from 11:30-12:30. The parents who took part on this course enjoyed it.
Laois County Council are looking for volunteers to take part in a Master Composter Programme. The aim of this programme is to develop a base of community volunteers who will promote the prevention of food and garden waste at home as well as encouraging home composting. Places are limited but please contact Ann-Marie Kelly, Environmental Awareness Officer Laois County council if you are interested in signing up for this new and exciting programme.
